Over the years I have seen patients with all kinds of health issues. Moreover, I would often see patients with what is known as TMJ (temporomandibular Joint) Syndrome. TMJ Syndrome is a condition where a person is experiencing pain and tightness at the side/top of your jaw. There also may be clicking and popping of the joint when opening your mouth. TMJ Syndrome can often cause a lot of physical and emotion stress; often leading to bouts of despair. Injuries to the TMJ are often caused by direct trauma to the face, chronic clenching of teeth, and malocclusion (uneven bite)
Malocclusion can be remedied by a dentist who has experience in correcting an uneven bite properly. If the TMJ problem is not too chronic or severe, you might try some simple exercises (look on YouTube: TMJ EASY FIX TECHNIQUE - Dr Alan Mandell, DC) Another solution is Directional Non-force Technique©. This is a gentle procedure that realigns the TMJ joints, Surrounding muscles and TMJ cartilage. This procedure is virtually pain-free, has a high success rate and doesn't involve painful surgery. Surgery would be the last option; however, there isn't much long-term research on its safety or effectiveness.
