When you are in pain, feeling fatigued, or generally not feeling well; you want a solution starting yesterday.  Many of us go to doctors and wellness practitioners hoping for an instant cure to what ails us.  This kind of mentality oftentimes makes us susceptible to savvy marketing scammers.  Oftentimes, these slick marketers skirt the line of legality.

So, here are a few tips to protect yourself from wellness products that may not serve your well being.

1.    One size does not fit all.

There are wellness companies that may have a few success testimonials but they will never reveal of all the failures.   Ask: are there any clinical trials?  Any papers in peer reviewed journals?  Ask to see the scientific evidence.  Do you really want to waste your money on anecdotal evidence?

2.     You are pulled through a funnel to keep upgrading so that you’re spending a lot more money than you initially intended.  There may be a money back guarantee, but good luck getting your money back in a timely manner, if at all.

3.    Find out if you are really deficient in a certain substance or nutrient.  A blood test or a symptom survey can give you a lot of information.

4.    Before buying supplements, eat whole foods, get moderate exercise, drink plenty of purified water, get enough rest, fresh air and sunshine, reduce your stress.

5.    Don’t fall into the trap of diagnosing yourself.  Make an appointment with reputable chiropractor, Naturopathic Doctor or Wellness practitioner.

The tips I’ve listed above are not exhaustive.  You may come up with your own.  A wise man said, “keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.”   Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware)
