It has been scientifically proven that the immune system plays a crucial role in keeping high risk microbes in check. Most of the time, the body's immune system clears the cause of infection without you even feeling it. That's because the immune system is continually working behind the scenes; patrolling the body for foreign agents and destroying disease causing microbes before they can tamper with the DNA of healthy cells.
In some cases, though, the immune system fails to perform these tasks and the virus seizes the opportunity. Advanced age, physical, chemical and emotional stress or unhealthy habits often weaken the body's defenses, giving these viruses the advantage. The immune system, like most parts of the body, gets weaker with age and less able to prevent diseases like cancer.
The key to preventing degenerative diseases like cancer may be simply keeping the immune system working on an optimal level. Wholesome diet, exercise, avoiding smoking, and excessive consumption of alcohol are great ways to keep your body's natural defenses functioning optimally. You want to avoid an environment where viruses over populate by smoking or drinking alcohol excessively. These indulgences damage cells and give viruses and open door into the weakened cells of the body.
Chiropractic helps bolster the immune system by normalizing the function of the nervous system thereby allowing for a healthier immune response.
Ronald Pero, Ph.D., chief of cancer prevention research at New York's Preventive Medicine Institute and professor of medicine at New York University, measured the immune systems of people under chiropractic care as compared to those in the general population and those with cancer and other serious diseases.
His research found that chiropractic patients have a 200% greater immune proficiency than people who had not received chiropractic care.
